Celestrella, the Gypsy Fortune Teller Machine

Description

I recently read a story by :iconxTheInvisibleHandx:, which revolved around a cute doll TF, but also featured a gypsy fortune telling machine at a carnival, that had once been human.  I found myself really intruiged with the idea, since it seemed like an interesting variation on the usual mannequin/mechanical doll idea -- but less graceful and elegant, and more carnival or curio shop novelty. I've also always loved the color and flamboyance of genie fashions, and gypsy fashions seemed quite similar... so I began to wonder to myself, "what would it be like to end up transformed into a gypsy fortune telling machine?"  Trapped in a glass case on display at a carnival or curio shoppe, unable to move oneself, only animate when someone puts in a few coins, putting on a preprogrammed performance with one's voice coming from a speaker in one's head.  But in a world of magical transformations, a fortune-telling machine could grant wishes, and I could certainly see a genie doing such a TF as a way to add more whimsical magic into the world. :P

The stories I've been reading lately have been more of the "happy ending" type, where the person transformed ultimately at least learns to accept their fate... so I'm assuming Mischa will eventually accept being a novelty item like this.  Certainly there's worse things to be!

(Also, while drawing this picture I realized that the angle I drew it at would cause part of the box to obscure the gypsy's face... but since I really love how the mechanical ventriloquist dummy-style mouth turned out, I decided to leave that part of the box rather faint, leaving in the lines of the fortune teller to show through.  Hopefully next time I take a shot at the idea I'll do a better angle... X3)

Yeah, you are right. Most of the TF stories you read these days end with the transformed accepting, or even liking, the transformation. I rather fashion stories where the person gets themselves trapped in a new, unwanted, form and never are too happy about it. For one thing, if they are magically forced to accept or like their transformation then, really, it is just a wish come true story and those tend to be a bit boring. I like your work, I did a similar piece and have it in my gallery at https://www.deviantart.com/janedoe-2010/art/The-new-Esmeralda-878054814 Stay safe, and take care!
